COD Chaparral Gridders Face Arizona Western College Matadors in El Toro Bowl Dec. 5

Less than a month after closing out their 2015-2016 regular season, the College of DuPage Chaparral football team will travel to Yuma, Ariz. To face the Arizona Western College Matadors in the 2015 El Toro Bowl.

The 4th ranked Chaparral gridders face off against the 6-4 Matadors in a 1 p.m. kickoff at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The College launched its football program in 1967. Since that time, the Chaparrals have an overall record of 295 wins, 191 losses and one tie. The El Toro Bowl marks the COD teams' 17th bowl appearance in the school's history. This year's game is the second under Head Coach Matt Foster who took the helm in 2013. Foster previously served on the staff of National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Hall of Fame coach Bob MacDougall.

"The Matadors are a well-coached team and they're a perennial top-five team," Foster said. "They've had a strong season, coming in second in their conference, so it will be a good match-up."

The 8-1 Chaparrals were strong on the road this season, suffering their only loss at home against Iowa Western. They've averaged 37 points per game and accrued 2,232 passing and 1,522 rushing yards this season. Click here for more stats from the NJCAA.
