Nov. 20 to Jan. 10: CLC art faculty display works inspired by visit to China

"China: Foreign Reality," a new exhibit by six College of Lake County art professors, will be on display at CLC's Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art from Nov. 20 through Jan. 10. A opening reception, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Nov. 20 in the gallery, with refreshments and live entertainment.

The exhibit will include a variety of artwork by David Bolton, Terry Dixon, Hans Habeger, Robert Lossmann, Roland Miller and Erick Rowe, who traveled to China in 2014 for a cultural exchange funded by a U.S. State Department grant. The faculty shared American culture through the arts by lecturing and showing artwork at three Chinese universities. The exhibit features more than 20 artworks reflecting the artists' impressions of an emerging "super nation" that reflects both Third World blending the influences of an ancient culture and cutting-edge technologies.

"The exhibit will include paintings, drawings, photographs, ceramics and mix media. Subjects include urban landscape spaces, the human figure, textures and patterns and abstract compositions. I think it will make for a diverse collection of fresh, recent work," said Hans Habeger, Gallery of Art co-curator.
