Music for the Holidays with Northbrook Symphony Orchestra

The Northbrook Symphony will host a special holiday concert, Music for the Holidays, featuring the Chicago Children's Choir on Sunday, Dec. 6 with two performances at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at Techny Towers in Northbrook.

The repertoire for Music in the Holidays includes: A Christmas Festival by Leroy Anderson; The First Noel by Carmen Dragon; Waltz of the Snowflakes from The Nutcracker; and Final Scene from Hansel and Gretel by Humperdinck.

"The message of this concert comes straight from the heart and is designed, perhaps a bit boldly, to offer our audiences with a rare opportunity to get back in touch with the cherished sense of calm, warmth and security that seems to be forgotten during our current holiday festivities," said NSO Music Director Lawrence Rapchak.

This December, the Northbrook Symphony Orchestra will be joined by the Chicago Children's Choir under the direction of Chorus Director Daniel Wallenberg. Participating in the festivities will be guest vocalists soprano Sharon Quattrin Campagna, mezzo-soprano Jessye Wright and tenor Zachary Vanderburg.

"We're extremely happy to be performing again with the Northbrook Symphony this holiday season. The singers and I are looking forward to being a part of this special program," said Daniel Wallenberg, conductor of Chicago Children's Choir's Rogers Park and Humboldt Park Neighborhood Choirs.

The Northbrook Symphony Orchestra began offering holiday concerts in 2012 as a way to celebrate the beauty of the holiday season.

"Every year it's been such a delight to host our audience as we get into the holiday spirit while listening to beautiful compositions played by talented artists," commented Jim Karagianis, Northbrook Symphony Orchestra board president. "This year will be no exception, as we have an innovative and entertaining concert planned."

Music for the Holidays will be performed on Dec. 6 at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at Techny Towers located at 2001 Waukegan Rd. in Northbrook.

Tickets start at $30 and can be purchased by calling 847-272-0755 or visiting www.northbrooksymphony.org.
