Barrington fire district adds to administrative staff

Kathryn Sadowski, an administrative professional with more than 15 years of fire district, medical, retail, and nonprofit experience, has been hired as the Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District's new administrative assistant, district board President Thomas C. Long announced Thursday.

The position was created by district officials as part of a department restructuring initiated in September to streamline operations and improve efficiency.

Sadowski, of Palatine, previously spent three years as an administrative assistant for the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District, and jumped at the opportunity to return to public service.

"Public safety is a very noble calling. I'm extremely proud to be working with a group of talented, dedicated people who are committed to serving the community," she said in a news release. "It's a great opportunity to join a vibrant, growing organization."

Sadowski's responsibilities include completing day-to-day administrative support functions, overseeing special projects assigned by department officers, and preparing monthly accounts payable reports for the district's accountants.

Sadowski worked for a Northwest suburban medical practice before joining the district in late October. Prior to that, she spent more than 10 years as a department manager at a major national grocery chain.
