Handcrafted rocking horse, Bulls tickets and Hello Kitty kick off holiday basket fundraiser

A handcrafted wooden rocking horse, courtesy of Boyd Whitt, is one of the highlights of the annual basket fundraiser for Huntley Area Public Library. It will be on display beginning Friday, Nov. 20, at the library, 11000 Ruth Road, Huntley. The library's Friends Foundation's mission is to raise funds to support and promote the many resources available at the library.

One of the ways the Friends do that is with their annual Holiday Basket Fundraiser. It returns Friday, Nov. 20 when this year's baskets will be on display at the library through Dec. 15.

Tickets can be purchased at the library's Information Desk through Dec. 15 for $1 each or six for $5.

Friends Foundation president Genevieve Hochwarter said, "We've already received some fantastic donations and have begun putting the baskets together."

Themes include Hello Kitty, Star Wars, Movie Night, Chicago Bulls, and with many more to come.

Pamela Kampwerth, head of volunteer & outreach services, said, "The generosity of the community for this fundraiser never ceases to amaze me. Not only from ticket sales, but from the families, businesses and Friends Foundation members that provide items, time and love to make the baskets better and better every single year."
