Elk Grove summer concert lineup expected Dec. 15

Elk Grove Village officials are expected to announce the lineup for the 2016 Mid-Summer Classics Concert Series on Dec. 15.

Mayor Craig Johnson said this week promoters Murray and Kitty Weiner have secured performers for three of four scheduled concerts next July, and they're "90 percent there" getting an act for the first show July 4. In setting the lineup, they've considered 25 possible performers.

The village board has already given the Weiners' company, Entertainment Management Group, a $42,500 retainer, with an additional payment expected next month. The village pays for the concerts using hotel-motel taxes, video gambling revenues, tobacco license fees and sponsor donations. The park district also contributes $50,000.
