MCC to host jazz and blues concert

McHenry County College will host a Fall Jazz and Blues Concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, featuring the MCC Blues Band and MCC Jazz Ensemble. The concerts will take place in the Luecht Conference Center at the college, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake.

The MCC Blues Band, known as Lush Hill, directed by Michael Hillstrom, will perform a variety of original songs in addition to classics by Muddy Waters and Albert King. Band members are Geary Smith on harmonica and vocals, Robert Lush on guitar, Hillstrom on piano and vocals, Jake Boston on bass, and Rick Brabeck on drums.

The Jazz Ensemble, directed by Michael Bazan, will feature music by Pat Metheny, Joe Henderson, and MCC student Ray Carle. The MCC Jazz Ensemble includes: Luke Hess, Chris St. Leger, Ron Schatz, Kevin Doyle, Connor Zankle, Sam Schatz, Garrett Floden, Tyler Ribarchik, Jon Oakes, Dylan Harper and Andy St. Leger.
