Box Office Top 20: 'Spectre' and 'Peanuts' stay on top

NEW YORK (AP) - A handful of new releases failed to come close to "Spectre" and "The Peanuts Movie," which easily remained the biggest draws at movie theaters over the weekend.

The James Bond film "Spectre" grossed $33.7 million in its second week, while "The Peanuts Movie" followed up its second-place debut with $24 million.

The Christmas comedy "Love the Coopers" did the best of the newcomers, earning $8.3 million, according to final studio figures Monday. The Chilean miner drama "The 33" opened softly with $5.8 million.

The release of Angelina Jolie Pitt's marital drama "By the Sea" was scaled back by Universal Pictures to just 10 theaters. It made only $95,440.
