Tolerance losing out in holiday greetings

I just read another rant about the so called "political correctness" concerning the upcoming winter holiday season. In this case, the term "political correctness" is used dismissively to undermine the understanding that different people have different beliefs and that these beliefs deserve respect and tolerance.

This tolerance is under attack by what I would call "right way correctness." This is the belief that there is only one right way to look at things and anyone who believes otherwise is not worthy of respect.

The winter holiday was celebrated as a pagan and/or popular secular holiday long before it was chosen to be the birthday of Jesus. I don't feel that anyone has the right to be upset with those who continue to celebrate it as a secular and/or non-Christian holiday.

The original reason for the season was to celebrate the return of the light and the beginning of the end of the darkness.

Wish me a merry Christmas, and I will wish you a happy holiday. If this upsets you, then you are only adding to the darkness.
