Tree lighting, ice rink opening Saturday in South Barrington

The Arboretum of South Barrington is ringing in the holiday season with "Arboretum on Ice" - a 7,200-square-foot ice-skating rink - at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14. Guests can watch the lighting of the center's 36-foot holiday tree and listen to caroling from the Barrington High School Madrigals. At 6 p.m., the Hoffman Estates competitive skaters will perform. Food trucks will be on hand from 5 to 9 p.m.

Additional event parking is available west of Pinstripes from 4:30 to 10:30 p.m., with a Holiday Trolley making stops in the Fashion District, at Arboretum on Ice and near restaurants. Skating fees are $8 per person, $12 with skate rental.

The Arboretum of South Barrington, which is at 100 W. Higgins Road, has more than 65 retailers.
