Take a hike or build a gingerbread house with Geneva parks

Mitten Program: The program will be offered from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, and Friday, Dec. 11, at Peck Farm Park, 4038 Kaneville Road, Geneva. This one-time class explores the adventures of outdoor critters. It is for little ones ages 1 to 5, with parent accompaniment. Listen to some adventures and make some critters of your own to put in a mitten. Children must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Cost is $5 per child. Registration is required.

Tales About Tails - Penguins: Explore animals and nature with a story and related craft or short hike from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Peck Farm Park, 4038 Kaneville Road. For little ones ages 1 to 5, with parent accompaniment, this one-time class explores the adventures of penguins. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $5 per child. Registration is required.

Amazing Gingerbread Houses: Take the time out of your busy schedule to enjoy designing and decorating a gingerbread house together from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, Sunset Community Center, 710 Western Ave., Geneva. All supplies will be provided for you, plus a snack. For ages 3 to 12 with a parent or guardian. Cost is $34 per couple for park district residents, $51 for nonresident couples. Registration is required.

Parent & Me Holiday Reindeer: Calling all moms and dads. Join your child in a fun afternoon of stuffing his or her own reindeer from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 12, Stephen Persinger Recreation Center, 3507 Kaneville Road, Geneva. For ages 3 to 12 with a parent or guardian, they will add a star to make a wish, decorate a holiday T-shirt, and create a rhinestone collar. Birth certificates will be provided to each child. Cost is $35 per couple for park district residents, $53 for nonresident couples, $20, $30 nonresidents, for each additional sibling. Registration is required.

Holiday Time Outs: Parents, do you need alone time to do shopping, cleaning or present wrapping? They will provide crafts, stories and a snack from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, Wednesday, Dec. 16, Friday, Dec. 18, at Sunset Community Center, 710 Western Ave., Geneva. Parents please pack a hearty sack lunch. Available for children ages 2.5 to 6. Parents must to be available for diaper changing. Cost is $20 for park district residents, $30 for nonresidents. Registration is required.

Santa's Little Helpers: Keep the kids busy making a special gift for mom and dad and free up four hours to take care of those holiday tasks or to just take a break, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at Sunset Community Center, 710 Western Ave., Geneva. You can take all four hours or just part of them. Parents must pack a hearty sack lunch. Available for children ages 2.5 to 6. Parents must be available for diaper changing. Cost is $20 for park district residents, $30 for nonresidents. Registration is required.
