New inclusive playgroup available at Gail Borden library

A new playgroup has been introduced to the Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin on Tuesdays, now through Nov. 24, from 11 to 11:45 a.m.

This inclusive group offers opportunities for children, from birth to 5 years old, who currently receive therapy services, or may benefit from therapeutic play.

Not only will the children who attend focus on "developmental" play, but families are welcome to meet and find support.

Siblings are welcome to join the playgroup, which takes place in the Story Rooms at the main library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin.

This program cover needs of all kinds - speech, hearing, sensory, physical, autism spectrum, are just a few, and kids do not have to be receiving any therapy currently in order to participate in the group.

Emily Zegar, a licensed speech and language pathologist from Elgin Pediatric Therapy, will present the program as a way of giving back to the community after seeing the success of a similar program at the library in Arlington Heights.

Registration is required to participate the Therapeutic Playgroup, and as long as people are registering, there is an opportunity to make this program a permanent one. Visit www.gailborden.info.
