Dining events: On the Border thanks vets with free meals Nov. 11

On the Border's Veterans Day special

On the Border says thanks to vets and active duty military members on Veterans Day Wednesday, Nov. 11, with a free create-your-own combo meal. The meal includes the option to choose two or three items from a soup and salad menu, tacos, tostadas, enchiladas, and classic choices like the empanadas, chicken flautas, pork tamales and cheese chile relleno. Salata opens in Schaumburg

Salata opened a second suburban location, this time in Schaumburg. Known as "the next generation salad bar," Salata encourages customers to make their own salads and wraps. Pomigliano to open soon in Libertyville

The Saladino family is relocating Trattoria Pomigliano, reopening this month in a new building with an abbreviated name: Pomigliano. Pomigliano offers old favorites and traditional dishes, with a new emphasis on steaks, chops and fish. The new location offers patio space and an entry that features a courtyard with a fire pit.
