Technology used in Avon Center gym class

Third- and fourth-grade students at Grayslake Elementary District 46's Avon Center School in Round Lake Beach don't just do jumping jacks and play dodgeball in gym class. A $1,000 Trustmark Impact Educator Grant used by physical education teacher Tammy Steinkamp allowed her to purchase pedometers and heart rate monitors so students in her classes cannot only track their steps, miles, and calories burned, but now they can monitor their heart rates as well.
