Prospect Heights police raising funds for American Cancer Society

Prospect Heights police officers are raising funds for cancer awareness programs throughout the month of November by growing out their facial hair and collecting donations.

Money raised by the department will be donated to local American Cancer Society Relay For Life events. The events raise money to fund groundbreaking cancer research, provide free information and critical services for people with cancer, and support education and prevention programs.

Police officers will collect donations on various days in the month of November at the intersection of Rand and Thomas roads. donations also cane be made from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at House of Music & Entertainment (HOME Bar), 1227 N. Rand Road, Arlington Heights.

The Relay For Life movement unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. During the events, teams and individuals camp out at a school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path overnight to earn donations.
