Condell earns eighth consecutive A grade for patient safety

LIBERTYVILLE - Advocate Condell Medical Center is recognized with an "A" Hospital Safety Score for the eighth consecutive term by The Leapfrog Group.

Leapfrog analysts use public data to look at 28 safety measures and assign grades based on how well hospitals are doing to protect patients from harm. Measurements include the hospital's ability to prevent errors, accidents, injuries and infections.

Scores have been released twice each year since June 2012. Advocate Condell has been awarded an "A" Grade each time, placing it in an elite group of hospitals that have received straight A's since the Score launched. Condell is the only hospital in Lake County, Illinois, to achieve this high standard.

Leapfrog assigns A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,500 U.S. hospitals based on 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data. The score is designed to give individuals information to protect themselves and their families. For the first time since the Hospital Safety Scores debuted, this year the website is displaying hospitals' grades all the way back to the score's inception in 2012.

The goal is to make it easy for consumers to identify hospitals that have consistently achieved high standards or improved. To search for a hospital's score, go to www.hospitalsafetyscore.org/.
