Police: 48-year-old Elgin man shot

Elgin police are investigating a shooting that left a 48-year-old man wounded Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Officers were called at 1:35 p.m. to the 200 block of Villa Street on a report of shots fired. They found the man, who lives in Elgin, outside a home with a gunshot wound, police said.

Paramedics rushed him to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, and he is expected to survive, police said.
