Dance/fantasy to take stage at Glenbard East

Dance meets modern technology when students at Glenbard East High School perform "Wii Dance Through the Night," an original dance play created by athletic department secretary Phyllis LiFonti, as their first fall production.

The fantasy/dance is presented at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, Nov. 4 to 7, in Rider Hall at Glenbard East High School, 1014 S. Main St., Lombard. Tickets are $7.

The story takes place in Lombard, where a man lived with his eight daughters. They were beautiful, caring, talented, funny, confident, athletic, smart and adorable. They lived a wonderful life in their beautiful home.

On the eve of the oldest daughter's birthday, her father gave her a Wii game. None of them knew the game was enchanted and would take them to visit amazing places and meet interesting characters.

They travel through many games - Mario Bros., Pirates of the Caribbean, Mortal Combat, Batman, Power Rangers, Sugar Rush, Star Wars, Pac-Man.

They face evil, develop friendships and even find romance. But, most of all, they find out that the power of the love they have for each other is what counts the most.

The daughters are performed by Holli VanZandtLagina as Taylor; Sydney Jenkins as Meg; Gwendolyn Merrick as Katie; Natalie Altenburg as Kerry; Madeline Novak as Anna; MaryKate Klasen as Sarah; Mary Turner as Meadow; and Brooke Turner as Elsa.

Will Wightkin plays the father and Sam Batjes portrays a character called Sam.

The dance play was chosen to give students who would not audition for a traditional play or musical an opportunity to perform.
