Sleepy Hollow celebrates Halloween

The annual Halloween in the Hollow celebration at Sabatino Park in Sleepy Hollow returned Saturday.

A chili contest kicked off the event and hundreds of children of all ages participated in the costume parade. Kids lined up and walked a path lined with yellow caution tape while parents lined up to photograph them. Some acted out their characters like staggering zombies and twirling princesses, and there was even a Chicago Bears "Coach Mike Ditka" shouting out calls.

At the end of the walk, kids picked out candy and prizes were awarded for the best costumes. Jackson Foley, 6, a new Sleepy Hollow resident, dressed as the Headless Horseman-sans his horse. Stephanie Schroeder of Gilberts, who was raised in Sleepy Hollow, brought son Maddox, 3, who was Captain America.

Activities included pumpkin decorating and hayrides.
