NWSC PTA Presents Parent Education Program

On Monday, October 26, 2015, the SPARK (Special Education Parents Accessing Resources and Knowledge) Committee of the Northwest Suburban Council PTA/PTSA presents a free parent education workshop from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at Walter R. Sundling Junior High School, 1100 N. Smith Street, Palatine. The topic for the workshop is "Intro to IEP/504 Plans."

In an effort to reach as many families as possible, live Spanish translation will be provided at this meeting.

This free workshop is open to anyone in the local community. Discussion topics will include:

• How are the plans to be designed?

• How do you read the plan?

• How do we know we have a good plan?

• What should and can't be in a plan?

• What role does each player on the IEP team have in creating a plan?

Susan Gehring, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services for CCSD15, and Michele Scott, a Special Education Teacher, will address these questions on the process and document that defines the objectives for your child's education.
