Slum
2 pounds stew beef, cut into 1-inch cubes
4 small onions, sliced
Salt to taste
1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1/3 cup flour
Place raw meat in a pot and cover with sliced onions (don't brown meat). Salt the onions. Pour the crushed tomatoes over the onions. Add a bit of salt and the poultry seasoning. Cover the pot and bake at 275 degrees for 3 hours.
In a separate bowl, mix the flour with a ½ cup of cold water and set aside. When the meat is tender, slowly add the flour/water and stir. The slum will thicken. The dish can be served over mashed potatoes or noodles.
Serves four.
