Former educator appointed as Elk Grove Township trustee

Bob Ingraffia has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the Elk Grove Township board, township officials announced Monday.

A resident of Mount Prospect, Ingraffia retired in 2013 from a career in education. He spent nearly a decade as a schoolteacher, and held leadership positions at the regional superintendent's office for Chicago and suburban Cook County, according to township officials.

He replaces George Busse, who was appointed township clerk in August. Busse replaced Greg O'Brien, who moved outside township boundaries.

Eleven candidates showed interest in the trustee seat, and six were interviewed by the board.

Ingraffia will be sworn in at the board's Oct. 26 meeting. His term will end in May 2017.
