Author's book looks at Orson Welles life

In celebration of actor Orson Welles' 100th birthday, local author Todd Tarbox comes to the Palatine Library from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, to share the story of the seven-decade friendship between his grandfather, Roger Hill, and Orson Welles.

Tarbox's book, "Orson Welles and Roger Hill: A Friendship in Three Acts," is the basis for this program that begins with Welles' early life in 1926 at The Todd Seminary for Boys in Woodstock and finishes with his death in 1985.

This story gives a true sense of Welles' voice and celebrates the actor's friendship with his mentor, teacher and adviser, Roger Hill, who eventually became the headmaster of Welles' school.

Orson Welles and his relationship with Roger Hill was the longest-lasting friendship during the actor's lifetime. The author gives a glimpse of the true sense of this actor, director and creative innovator of the theater. Books will be available for purchase.

To sign up for this program, call (847) 358-5881, ext. 167, or visit www.palatinelibrary.org.
