Notre Dame legend bringing his Heisman to Palatine fundraiser

Notre Dame football legend Johnny Lattner and his 1953 Heisman Trophy will be on hand next week when the Palatine Park Foundation hosts its annual fundraiser to help provide scholarships for residents in need.

The 2015 Casual Cocktails Tailgate Party takes place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at Durty Nellie's, 180 N. Smith St. in Palatine.

The ticket cost of $50 includes one free cocktail and a wide selection of appetizers. Raffles and a silent auction will also take place during the event.

All proceeds will benefit the Foundation Scholarship Program, which provides financial assistance to Palatine Park District residents who cannot afford to participate in the district's athletic, recreational, and social programs.

To purchase tickets, contact park foundation President Carl Arthur at carl.arthur@att.net or (847) 910-2944. Tickets also can be purchased at the Palatine Park District Community Center, 250 E. Wood St., or from any of the foundation members: state Sen. Matt Murphy, Jack O'Connor, Jim Lennon, Thommy MacNiff-Kolb, Don Skinner, and Dutch Schultz. Tickets will also be available at the door Oct. 26.
