Hanover Park K-9 unit among top dogs

Hanover Park Police Department's K-9 unit is polling well in an annual contest that uses an online vote to give $5,000 to a police department to create or maintain a K-9 program.

The contest is put on by Aftermath, a nationwide company that specializes in crime scene and biohazard clean up. Voting at www.aftermath.com/k9contest closes on Oct. 31, and the winner will be announced Nov. 3.

Voters who include a photo of their department or their department's K-9 with their ballot will have their vote counted twice. Hanover Park currently has one K-9 unit.
