Former Little City resident pleads guilty to sexual assault
One day before his jury trial was scheduled to begin, a former Little City resident pleaded guilty Monday to sexually assaulting a woman four years ago.
Eddie Blue, 20, lived at the Palatine facility, which serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He was charged with the aggravated criminal sexual assault of a female employee at the facility in September 2011.
Blue, then 16 and a ward of the state, was charged as an adult for the class X felony. He has been in custody since his arrest.
Prosecutors said he forced the woman into a restroom, choked her, demanded she remove her clothes and threatened her if she did not comply.
Defense attorneys claimed Blue - who had no criminal background - has cognitive disabilities and suffers from bi-polar disorder. According to court records, Blue has been examined multiple times for fitness since his incarceration, but was found fit to stand trial last year.
Blue faces up to 30 years in prison at his sentencing Nov. 3, prosecutors said.
