Tow truck driver shot in Elgin

Elgin police are investigating the shooting of a tow truck driver wounded in an altercation early Sunday as he was attempting to remove a vehicle.
Police said officers were called to Presence St. Joseph Hospital about 1:53 a.m. after the 45-year-old man arrived seeking treatment for a nonlife threatening gunshot wound.
According to police, the victim said he was attempting to tow a vehicle in the 1200 block of Fleetwood Drive when he was confronted by another man. An argument ensued, during which the victim was shot, police said.
Detectives from the Elgin Police Department's Major Investigations Division are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the division at (847) 289-2600.
