Sign up for craft market or Christmas Tree Lane at annual 'Celebration of Lights'

Batavia's annual "Celebration of Lights" will begin at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at the Peg Bond Center and along the Batavia Riverwalk. Admission is free; there is free parking north of the Batavia Government Center.

From 4 to 7 p.m., stop by the Holiday Craft Market inside the Government Center. If you're interested in being a vendor, call Katie Drum at (630) 879-5235.

The Batavia Community Band, under the direction of John Heath, will perform from 5:30 to 6 p.m.

From 5:30 to 7 p.m., there will be free hayrides with food or $1 cash donation, with proceeds directly benefitting the Batavia Food Pantry; free roasted chestnuts; family photo opportunity on the main stage of Peg Bond Center; and hot dogs and hot chocolate for sale.

At 5:45 p.m., join in a community sing-along, led by Craig Foltos of the Foltos Tonsorial Parlor.

Santa will arrive for the ceremonial tree lighting at 6 p.m., with a welcome by Mayor Jeff Schielke.

Starting at 6:15 p.m., stop by Santa's Warming House. Visit Santa at the Peg Bond Center warming house and receive a treat from Santa for children under 10 while supplies last.

Staff from the Batavia Public Library will offer a "Story Hour" from 6:15 to 7 p.m. at the Gustafson Research Center, located in the lower level of the Batavia Depot Museum.

Holiday Gift Bags stuffed full of festive surprises will be given out, while supplies last.

Stroll through Christmas Tree Lane with 25 holiday trees decorated by local organizations and businesses. If your group wants to participate, call Katie Drum at (630) 879-5235.

The festival is presented by the Batavia Park District, in partnership with Batavia MainStreet, the Batavia Chamber of Commerce, the City of Batavia, and the Batavia Police Department.
