Girls golf: Grant's Gold shoots 77 at state
KiLynn Gold shot a 5-over-par 77, placing the Grant sophomore in a tie for 13th place, on Day 1 of the Class AA girls golf state meet at Hickory Point Golf Club in Decatur on Friday.
Gold, who had a 40 on the front nine and 37 on the back, is six shots off the lead.
Led by junior Megan Sturonas' 83 (tie for 40th), Libertyville is in ninth place after carding a 351. Junior Simone Mikaelian, who qualified individually for state as a freshman and sophomore, shot an 85 (tie for 54th) for the Wildcats.
Libertyville also counted senior Katherine Stegman's 89, while senior Maggie Piazzi and sophomore Colby Roberts each had a 94 for the Wildcats.
Carmel senior Alexa Amato shot an 86. Hinsdale Central sits in first place after a carding a 307.
