Ex-Lake Zurich fire chief gets court supervision in domestic case

A former Lake Zurich fire chief last month pleaded guilty in a domestic battery case, officials confirmed.

David Wheelock, 45, of Lake Zurich, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery and was sentenced to 1 year of supervision. He also was ordered to avoid contact with the victim - his estranged wife - and to avoid illegal drugs and alcohol.

Wheelock was sentenced Sept. 30 in Lake County circuit court. He was arrested May 4 and charged with domestic battery resulting in bodily harm and battery after an argument in the house the couple shared.

He retired from the fire department four days after charges were filed.
