Westminster ousted by Genoa-Kingston

Genoa-Kingston 3, Westminster Christian 1: At the Class 1A Genoa-Kingston regional, the No. 2 Cogs ended the No. 8 Warriors season with 2 first-half goals, including an insurance goal with 5 minutes remaining. Will Kmeciak registered Westminster's score off an Logan Harbough assist. Genoa-Kingston will play the winner between No. 7 Elgin Academy and No. 3 Harvest Christian on Saturday for the regional title.

Huntley 5, McHenry 4 (OT): Michael Zembrzuski capped his 2-goal night with a game-winner 9 minutes into overtime to give the Red Raiders (13-5-1, 3-2) a huge Fox Valley Conference Valley win. Mario Vergara chipped in a goal and an assist while Max Trsinski added 1 goal. Alessandro Vergara and Jason Zobott also added assists.

St. Charles East 5, Marmion 1: Mitch Dorsey and Jasminko Dizdarevic had 2 goals each in the Saints' nonconference win over the Cadets. Justin Stepien jetted 1 goal and 2 assists while Michael Peters had 2 assists as well for St. Charles East (12-4-2).

Hampshire 4, Belvidere North 0: The Whip-Purs (12-7-1) ended their regular season on a good note with a shutout at home. Nico Barrientos scored and assisted once while Tyler Koppie and Michael Boutin added goals. Weston Eaton and Doug Stuehler added assists while goalkeepers Jason Polletta (2 saves) and Andy Krajecki (5 saves) split in net.

CL South 8, Hononegah 0: Nikolas Getzinger hammered down a hat trick and an assist in a dominant nonconference win for the Gators (10-7-4). Jack Wruck tallied 1 and 1 assist while Skyler Pentico, Ben Kassell, Alex Aldridge and Brad Grabowski added goals. Jeff Kirshenbaum delivered 2 assists, while Zach Schmidt and Victor Brito each had 1. Keeper Spencer Traub earned his fifth shutout of the year with 2 saves.

Johnsburg 2, Burlington Central 0: The Rockets (10-10-1) dropped to 8-5 in the Big Northern East after the Skyhawks put across 2 goals in the second half. Ryan Fitzgerald finished with 7 saves in net.
