Rolling Meadows man pleads guilty in Uber fight

A 20-year-old Rolling Meadows man pleaded guilty Tuesday to a felony count of criminal property damage that stemmed from a fight with an Uber driver in June.

Alan Slawson entered his guilty plea Tuesday morning and is slated for sentencing Nov. 6.

According to police, Slawson and four others were picked up by Uber driver Marvin L. White just before 3 a.m. June 6 after leaving a party on the 3800 block of Central Road.

During the ride, Slawson began arguing with White. Slawson exited the vehicle near the intersection of Owl Drive and Holly Lane and threw a large rock at the car, which shattered the moon roof, according to police reports.

In retaliation, White fired a handgun in Slawson's direction, police say, but the bullet didn't strike Slawson or anyone else. Slawson began running after the gun was fired. Police said White fired again, and again struck no one.

In the aftermath, White and Slawson were arrested. White, 44, of Bolingbrook, was charged with aggravated discharge of a weapon. His case is still pending.
