Elk Grove Twp. offers free financial workshops

Elk Grove Township residents interested in learning tips on how to best plan for their financial future are invited to attend two free financial planning workshops Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Elk Grove Township building, 2400 S. Arlington Heights Road.

The first workshop begins at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 7:45 p.m. The second is from 8 until 9:15 p.m.

Robert Mecca, a Certified Financial Planner with more than 30 years of experience in the financial industry, will present both workshops.

"Many people debate with themselves if they are doing enough to plan for their retirement," Mecca said. "I will present some simple strategies and other information so that those who attend can incorporate the information into their own planning efforts."

Mecca said no matter what age an individual is, it is never too late to start.

Among the topics in the first of the two workshops, Key Strategies to Plan Your Financial Future, are how to increase tax returns and reduce income taxes, in addition to setting appropriate financial goals and diversifying investments. Information about health insurance and long term care insurance also will be covered.

The second workshop is called 2015 Review, 2016 Forecast and Strategies to Implement Now and will cover topics such as stocks, bonds, the real estate market and how to increase cash flow.

"Making financial decisions for the future can be challenging; we are providing this education opportunity for township residents so they can be as informed as possible to make the best decisions for themselves and their families," said Mike Sweeney, Elk Grove Township supervisor.
