Tentative Mitsubishi-union agreement to be discussed

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) - United Auto Workers will hold a meeting to talk about a tentative agreement between the union that represents workers at the Mitsubishi plant in Normal and Mitsubishi Motors North America.

The (Bloomington) Pantagraph (http://bit.ly/1joDv5u ) reports that the meeting will be held at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in downtown Bloomington on Monday.

The meeting follows last week's agreement on a tentative deal between the company and the union's negotiating committee.

The current contract expired in August but it was extended after Mitsubishi announced it was ceasing production at the plant in Normal in November and closing the plant where about 1,200 people work next May.

The company says it is closing the plant because of diminishing sales.
