BNSF Metra trains restart to, from DuPage suburbs, with delays

Metra says service has been restored to and from Aurora and are now operating through the area near the Congress Park station in Brookfield, where potentially hazardous material was reported.

"Trains may incur extensive delays en route and please listen to platform announcements for the location of your trains," Metra said at metrarail.com.

The trains had been halted at the beginning of the afternoon rush hour, stranding commuters downtown and leaving some suburban Cubs fans scrambling to get to this afternoon's playoff game at Wrigley Field.

The BNSF line runs between Chicago and Aurora with stops including Naperville, Lisle, Downers Grove, Westmont, Hinsdale and LaGrange.
