Symonds-Madison Funeral Home to hosting fall open house Oct. 15

Symonds-Madison Funeral Home is hosting a fall open house for the Elgin community from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at the funeral home on 305 Park St. The event serves as a formal kickoff for the funeral home's new name, Symonds-Madison.

Owners Daniel and Joy Symonds welcome friends and neighbors to stop by, meet the Symonds-Madison family, and enjoy tours and light refreshments. The funeral home is located on the corner of Park Street and Dundee Avenue.

"We're pleased to host our first fall open house to celebrate our new name and visit with members of the community," said Joy Symonds, owner and family services counselor. "I encourage everyone to stop by, meet our family, go on a short tour, and enjoy refreshments in a relaxed, cheerful environment."

Daniel Symonds, a second-generation funeral director licensed for more than 20 years, purchased Madison Funeral Home in December 2013. As a longtime funeral director and U.S. Army Reservist, Daniel followed in his father's footsteps of military and funeral service. He was born and raised in the funeral industry, learning to serve families with integrity firsthand from his late father, Irving Symonds Jr., who owned several funeral homes in Chicago, Highwood, and Grayslake. Daniel married Joy in January of this year, and the two are expecting their first child in December.

The new Symonds-Madison logo is a tribute to Daniel's father, modeled after a stained class eagle handcrafted by Irving in the late 1970s. The piece currently hangs above the funeral home's original antique fireplace.

Symonds-Madison Funeral Home is proudly veteran and family owned, and has served Fox Valley families with integrity for more than 90 years.
