Missed chance on gun control

A number of the Republican presidential candidates are using Chicago as an example of how gun laws don't work. Do they remember that when the last Daley was mayor, the City Council passed a gun law that had the strength to possibly bring this problem under control?

What did the gun lobby do? They sued the city and took it all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court where the lobby, with help from the conservative court, threw out the parts that the NRA didn't like.

There are no new gun shops in Chicago, but there are enough of them in Northwestern Indiana, alone to keep the city of Chicago well supplied.
