See how 'Merchants of Doubt' mislead public debate

It's Movie Night! Join the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County, with co-sponsor Citizens Climate Lobby of McHenry County, for a free screening of "Merchants of Doubt."

Based on the book of the same name by historians Naomi Oreskes and Erik Conway, "Merchants of Doubt" is a satirical, but serious, look at how a loose-knit group of scientists with political connections ran campaigns to deny established scientific knowledge and mislead the public over four decades on some of the most pressing health and environmental issues of our times.

This documentary shows how political motives can interfere with the dissemination of scientific information to the public.

The 2014 documentary will be shown at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, Luecht Conference Center, building B at McHenry County College, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. It is hosted by the McHenry County College Sustainability Center.

It is free to the public, donations appreciated
