Prospect preps for Prance on Columbus Day

The Prospect girls cross country team is preparing for the ninth annual Prospect Prance.

This year, the event's mission is to promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage youth to stay active while supporting a dear friend of the program, Cammy Babiarz, and all the other girls in this world with Rett Syndrome.

Rett Syndrome is a genetic disorder which affects 1 in 10,000 girls. It limits motor skills and the ability to communicate.

The Prance is scheduled for Columbus Day (Monday, Oct. 12) at Prospect High School, west of the tennis courts.

Three races will be offered for grades K through 8: A ¼-mile run for Kindergarten through third grade, a ½-mile run for fifth grade and under and a 1-mile run for eighth grade and under.

One final race will be offered for those younger than kindergarten - a 100-meter dash.

Registration for the event will open on site at 9:30 a.m., and the ¼-mile race will begin after warmups and registration.

A $5 entry fee includes face painting, finisher photo booth, awards, and food and drink. For $10, t-shirts will be sold to support Cammy Can and the fight against Rett Syndrome.
