Pacers Sports & Entertainment VP wins leadership prize

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The vice chairman of Pacers Sports & Entertainment has won a $100,000 grant from the Mitch Daniels Leadership Foundation.

An eight-member jury chose James Morris for the Mitch Daniels Prize that's named for the former Indiana governor and current Purdue University president.

Morris will receive his grant award during a Dec. 10 event honoring his contributions to the state of Indiana.

Morris formerly directed the U.N. World Food Program in Rome and was president of the Lilly Endowment Inc. Retired Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Randall Shepard says Morris' "extraordinary professional career" has "transformed lives and inspired the young leaders of today."

Winners of the biennial Daniels prize choose an individual or organization that best embodies Daniels' values to receive the grant.
