Swinney: Lakip took part in pre-trial intervention program

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Clemson coach Dabo Swinney says kicker Ammon Lakip went through a pre-trial intervention program and had his misdemeanor drug arrest expunged.

Lakip was arrested in June and charged with DUI and simple possession of cocaine. The coach said Tuesday Lakip was accepted into the pre-trial prevention program by the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit and completed the program.

Lakip was suspended for No. 6 Clemson's first three contests. He returned to kickoff duties last week against Notre Dame and forced a fumble on the opening kickoff of the second half, which the Tigers turned into a 21-yard touchdown run by Deshaun Watson in Clemson's 24-22 win.

Lakip was Clemson's starting place kicker last year and went 21 of 28 on field goals. Greg Huegel took over that job this fall.
