Two churches join in liturgical and inspirational concerts

Over 50 voices from two parishes, St. Margaret Mary in Algonquin and Church of the Holy Apostles in McHenry, will unite for two evenings to perform a wide range of liturgical and inspirational music. Ethnic choices will include songs performed in Polish, Spanish, and Tagalog.

Contemporary selections by Dan Schotte, local favorite Fergal King, and M. Roger Holland are featured along with the traditional mainstay "How Great Thou Art."

Gospel favorite "O Happy Day" will be heard and for those who enjoyed "Sister Act," be prepared to clap along to the movie arrangement of "Hail Holy Queen."

Additionally each parish's children's choir will join in performing at their home parish.

The concert is an event in commemoration of St. Margaret Mary's 100th anniversary and Church of the Holy Apostles recently concluded 25th anniversary year. There will be no admission fee but free will offerings will gladly be accepted. A reception will follow each performance.

Performances will be 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at St. Margaret Mary, 111 S. Hubbard in Algonquin, and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Holy Apostles, 5211 W. Bull Valley Road in McHenry.
