Beer, wine tasting at Glacial Park

The McHenry County Conservation Foundation will host its first "Tap into Your Wild Side" benefit Saturday, Oct. 10, at Glacial Park in Ringwood.

Beneath the ancient oaks of Glacial Park in the Lost Valley Visitor Center and patio tent, the evening affair includes savory appetizers, local craft beers of McHenry County, vintage wines and decadent desserts - with live music performed by R&B guitarist Jeff Trudell.

Aside from an enjoying a great evening of camaraderie and supporting local conservation efforts, attendees can entice their "Wild Side" and bid on fishing gear, canoe trips, archery bows, snowshoe and cross-county ski rentals, camping packages and horse riding lessons.

Obernauf Auctions will lend their expertise to kickoff the live auction rounds which include great packages like Lake Michigan fishing charter, a weekend hunting experience, a Door County weekend stay, wine tasting party, kayak and paddle and road bikes. In addition numerous local business have donated items for the silent auction that include theater tickets, custom jewelry, Harley motorcycle day rental, brewery tours, framed art prints, pottery, photography workshops and passes to corn mazes and apple orchard to name a few.

The evening event will help support the work of McHenry County Conservation District and provide funds to enhance outdoor recreational opportunities in conservation areas and improve wildlife habitat.
