Fox Valley Week 6: Crystal Lake South looking for homecoming win

Dundee-Crown (1-4, 0-1) at Crystal Lake South (4-1, 1-0)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday

The Gators, playing their final home game of the regular season, won't underestimate the visiting Chargers on homecoming night. “They played Morris tough early in the season and they were up on (Prairie Ridge) until the rain delay,” CL South coach Chuck Ahsmann said. “We have to start fast.” Corey Sheehan may return from injury to play defense only, Ahsmann said.

Hampshire (3-2, 1-1) at Woodstock North (2-3, 1-2)

Game time: 7:15 p.m. Friday

Hampshire coach Mike Brasile makes the first of two late-season visits to his hometown. Junior Jake Vincent also returns to Woodstock for the first time since transferring from Marian Central. Vincent leads area quarterbacks with 1,435 yards and 13 touchdowns on 107-of-174 passing.

Crystal Lake Central (3-2, 2-1) at Grayslake North (2-3, 1-1)

When: 7:15 p.m., Friday

Last week: Crystal Lake Central def. Woodstock North, 14-7; Grayslake North lost to Prairie Ridge, 65-27.

Grayslake North has lost three straight games and the common denominator has been a high allowance of points for each opponent. The Knights have given up 68, 59 and 65 points over the last three weeks and are allowing 47.2 points per game over the course of the season. That's most in the Fox Valley Fox. Only Grayslake Central comes close with 42.6 points allowed per game. The next highest points allowed average in the division is 26.6 (Hampshire). … Running back Dami Oladunmoye accounted for many of Grayslake North's 481 total yards of offense last week. He rushed for 335 yards and 4 touchdowns on 25 carries. … Crystal Lake Central's win last week broke a 2-game losing streak.

Grayslake Central Rams (0-5) at Danville Vikings (1-4)

When: 7:15 p.m., Friday

Last week: Grayslake Central lost to Woodstock, 20-14; Danville lost to Peoria Notre Dame, 44-37.

The Rams spotted Woodstock a 20-0 lead after three quarters last Friday and couldn't rally, despite 2 touchdown passes from Luke Shepherd to Noah Comerford. Shepherd has thrown 4 TD passes this season, all to Comerford. The Rams have scored only 45 points through five weeks. They seek to snap a 15-game losing streak. Danville traveled to Grayslake Central last year and pulled out a 17-16 win. All four of Danville's losses have been by single-digit margins. The Vikings are led offensively by running back Justin Daubaris (124 carries-668 yards, 10 TDs), quarterback Quentin Smith (48-of-96 passing, 722 yards, 5 TDs, 5 interceptions) and wide receiver Darryl Kelley (29 receptions, 345 yards, 2 TDs).

Cary-Grove (4-1, 0-1) at McHenry (1-4, 0-1)

Game time: canceled

Cary-Grove receives a forfeit win as the teachers strike that began Thursday in McHenry Community School District 156 continues. “It's a tough situation to be in because we definitely want to play again, obviously,” Cary-Grove coach Brad Seaburg said. “It's just out of our control.”
