NAACP of Lake County to host march

NAACP of Lake County will host a walk to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in Waukegan. The Million Man March took place Oct. 16, 1995 in Washington D.C. as a demonstration promoting unity and family values within the African American community. The We As Men March is seeking to inspire the same sense of accountability among all men within Lake County. The North Shore Minister Alliance, the Latino Coalition, Men of Valor as well as churches across Lake County are partnering in this event. The walk will be 2.2 miles, beginning at Greenwood Avenue and Sheridan Road and concluding in front of the Lake County courthouse. Men of all ages are strongly encouraged to participate in this event. Speeches from local community leaders will be given at the event.
