Schaumburg Township's free wellness fair Wednesday

On Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 2-6 p.m., Schaumburg Township is hosting its fifth annual Community Wellness Day at 1 Illinois Blvd., in Hoffman Estates. This year's event is sponsored by Schaumburg Township Clerk Timothy M. Heneghan, Northwest Community Healthcare, Cook County Commissioner Timothy O. Schneider, the Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation and the Schaumburg Township Board of Trustees.

Free and open to the public, Community Wellness Day offers several free health screenings and information from over 30 local community agencies to promote individual health and safety. Residents have the opportunity to test free screenings in skin cancer, podiatry, memory, glucose, hearing, fall prevention, spinal stress, bone density and blood pressure. Skin cancer and memory screenings are by appointment; call (847) 285-4551. Jewel Osco is offering on-site pneumonia and shingles vaccinations. Registration is required for the pneumonia and shingles vaccinations by calling (847) 895-1600 before attending. Flu and tetanus vaccinations will be offered at $25 and $20 (cash or check) or free with proof of Medicare Part B.

In addition to the screenings, participants can receive a free hand massages, free eyeglass adjustments, sharps disposal and visit numerous vendor tables to learn about their services. Free giveaways and raffles for all participants who attend.

Life Source will be on-site hosting a blood drive from 12-6 p.m. for blood donations. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. To schedule an appointment to donate blood, please call (877) 543-3768 or visit lifesource.org and use the code SH11.
