Tempel Lipizzan heading to premier equestrian event

Lake County's famed Tempel Lipizzan stallions are en route to Chester County, Pennsylvania, to be the featured exhibition at the 40th annual Dressage at Devon, widely recognized as one of the premier equestrian events in North America.

Slated to perform Oct. 2 to 4, before an anticipated 35,000 spectators, including top dressage riders and judges from around the world, the Tempel Lipizzans' Devon appearance marks the first time the prized horses have traveled from their Lake County home since President Obama's first Inaugural in 2009.

At Devon, the Tempel Lipizzans will present the gracefully synchronized Quadrille, or "Ballet of the White Stallions," and dramatic Pegasus-like "Airs Above the Ground" in a presentation Master Coach Conrad Schumacher calls "true classical riding in harmony, to be appreciated as part of the heritage of the art of dressage and the Lipizzan breed."
