Fundraiser for paralyzed Vernon Hills High School grad

Vernon Hills High School will host a fundraiser for 2009 graduate Tierney Darden on Friday, Oct. 2, at the homecoming soccer and football games. Tierney was paralyzed from the waist down nearly two months ago when a passenger shelter fell on her at O'Hare International Airport during a storm. The event will raise funds to help cover costs associated with making her Mundelein home accessible and to improve her quality of life when she returns from the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. The fundraiser is being conducted by alumni and current members of the Vernon Hills High School dance team and girls' lacrosse team, their families and by the Cougar Athletic Boosters. The soccer games is at 5 p.m. and the football game at 7:30 p.m. Contact Samantha Phillips at sam.phillips3152@gmail.com or Renae Renihan at rrenihan3m@yahoo.com.
