Blessing of pets in Lake Villa
A poolside pet blessing is set for 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at Holy Cross Anglican Church, 500 Park Ave. in Lake Villa. It's in celebration of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. "The service is typically one of joyous, holy chaos," said the Rev. Eric Raskopf. "Some pets nap through the service and others check out the other pets." Dogs, cats, and other mobile animals should be on a leash or in a carrier. After the ceremony, treats for people and pets and beverages will be served.
