Same rules should apply to all kids who try out for team

I am writing to express my concern about a Barrington Park District policy that discriminates against kids who live in the Village of Barrington.

The park district allows the South Barrington Park District to pick their own teams for the Barrington Park District Boys' Basketball League while requiring Barrington kids to have to undergo an evaluation process to be placed on a team. For the sake of fairness, all kids participating in the program should have to follow the same rules.

Also, it wrong to allow the South Barrington kids to practice close to home at the South Barrington Community Gym while the Barrington kids have to travel all over the school district to practice at a District 220 school.

As a long time advocate and coach in youth sports, I believe in fairness and equity. For the most part the Barrington Park District has been exemplary in this regard. It should not be difficult for them to rectify this unfair situation.
